Memory Care Apartments

By designing our community with seniors in mind, we want to ensure that our environment is open and never feels restricted, while still providing private space that residents can call their own.

Security is a top-of-the-mind concern for most families is finding a quality memory care. At Journey, we wanted the design of memory to focus on comfort and ease of navigation in a welcoming environment while ensuring residents’ safety and security. We don’t want residents to feel monitored or anxious, so we make every effort to integrate resident safety systems in discreet ways.

Specialized activity stations, called Life Stations™, are dotted strategically throughout our memory care cottage to promote engagement opportunities for residents. Designed to resemble important aspects of life, each station is intended to capture residents’ attention and promote a sense of purpose. Our Life Enrichment Coordinators also create life boxes that are specific to memory care residents!

At home, many families find their world contract over time because it gets harder to be engaged with memory loss. At Journey, we want to change that back to maximizing each resident’s engagement.

Alzheimer’s and dementia have a dramatic impact on eating nutritious meals. From changing tastes to loss of appetite and even medication interactions, maintaining a quality dining routine can seem like a nearly impossible task. That’s why a robust dining strategy is one of the core features of our Memory Care cottage.

Like quality nutrition, grooming can really become a challenge for seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia. At Journey, this is a core piece of ensuring that residents are living a dignified life. Looking and feeling presentable is something we do every day and can take for advantage – and residents deserve that same feeling every day. In addition to assuring that every resident enjoys the daily care of combing, brushing, and makeup, we include a weekly visit to our salon at no additional cost.
